Well, you can scratch that. New traffic data from analytics firm Chitika show that the insurgent social network has erased those gains entirely.

Google Plus opened to the public on September 20, leading to the huge spike in interest that we reported, peaking around two days later. But just in the four days that followed, traffic sunk back down to where it was.

Why Innovatio's Wi-Fi Patent Rampage is a Good Thing

Why Innovatio's Wi-Fi Patent Rampage is a Good Thing:
According to the Patent Examiner, a company called Innovatio IP Ventures is suing individual branches of hotel chains for use of Wi-Fi. Though I’m staunchly against software patents – and by extension software patent lawsuits – I think this is a good thing.

The company is launching a “systematic campaign” according to Matthew McAndrews, the lead litigator for Innovatio. The company is trying to shake down “several hundred” defendants for $2,300 to $5,000. Says McAndrews, “We want you to continue to use this technology, we just want our client to get his due share. This is not a seat-of-the-pants, fly-by-night shakedown.”

SEO Cheatsheet Top SEO Mistake and Corrective Action

SEO Cheatsheet Top SEO Mistake and Corrective Action:
Great list and quick read posted on Search Engine Journal, Top SEO mistakes. It allows you to wirelessly transfer pictures from your camera to your computer or your mobile phone instantly. It also geotags your pics. For more info visit http://t.lizd.us/kDIV5r .

Why I love it …

Imagine wanting to capture a picture that you want to share immediately. You have your cell phone in hand and you know it will capture the picture which enables you to share right then. On the other hand it is an awesome scene you want to capture and you desire quality. So what do you do?

This is where the eye-fi comes in handy. Just snap a pic with your higher end camera and instantly send it to your mobile phone to share. Now you have your instant share and a high quality capture for latter use.

Sunset Rochester, Ny 9-29-2010 Kodak Office parking lot

Sunset Rochester, Ny 9-29-2010 Kodak Office parking lot

Iphone 4 HDR Photography

I have been playing with the HDR photography on my Iphone 4. I am definitely an amateur photographer but this functionality has caught my interest enough to begin learning more about photography. I can not believe the level of detail this feature brings out in a photo. The iphone saves each picture you take in 2 formats, the HDR and non HDR. The two pictures below were taken with my iphone 4 this AM looking into a foggy forest. Notice the fog in the top center of the photo. The HDR photo brings in the leaves that were lost in the fog in the non HDR photo.

Non HDR

I am a serious Wegmans fan and had the opportunity to shop in one of their Virginia stores where wine is allowed to be sold. I was quite impressed to say the least. There were many rows just like this one.

They even had a locked case for those “special” wines.

There was some very pricey wines in this case.

And some very BIG bottles of wine too!

And even BIGGER bottles with big price tags.

Please NYS sell wine in grocery stores.

Rochester, NY airport usually has a small wait to go through...

Rochester, NY airport usually has a small wait to go through security until the new body scanner was put in place.

Their is a nice article on Life Hacker with reasons why you may want to use the private browsing...

Their is a nice article on Life Hacker with reasons why you may want to use the private browsing feature that is in Internet Explorer, Chrome and Firefox ( other browsers too). Bill reinforces the need to segment content in a way that can then be geographically targeted in Google webmaster tools. At this time Google webmaster tools does not allow geographic targeting based on name value pairs in query strings. If your site is not depending on regional domain names or servers with the same IP as the targeted country, then paying attention to content segmentation is a must.

Google Analytics uniques

Google Analytics uniques:
I get many questions about uniques (AKA visitors) in Google Analytics. If you have never used before, it is a service that allows you to bookmark an online article to read latter whether your online or offline. I have the app on my iphone. It is quite useful when you are zipping through your twitter feed and you see an article you want to read but don’t have the time to digest the article at that moment. My twitter client EchoFon has a link to save into instapaper. In fact there are many apps that have made this integration. Check it out and download the instapaper app on your iphone. I performed a quick search to see what Android is doing with this service.
